DotA 6.71 Map Changelogs

The release of DotA 6.71 brought significant shifts to the competitive meta, focusing on hero viability and mechanical consistency. Having spent countless hours testing these interactions in custom lobbies, I’ve broken down the most impactful changes to help you understand how these adjustments affect your gameplay flow.

Hero Balance Adjustments

The following changes reflect a shift toward balancing high-impact abilities and addressing mobility concerns.

  • Abaddon: Aphotic Shield cast range increased by 50, allowing for safer utility in team fights.
  • Admiral: Ghost Ship cooldown reduced from 100 to 90. Note: The X Marks The Spot "Return" ability now occupies the primary spell slot and hotkey when active, streamlining your input sequence.
  • Alchemist: Movement speed reduced by 5; Chemical Rage bonus HP rescaled to 300/600/900.
  • Axe: Battle Hunger cooldown significantly reduced to 20/15/10/5, making it a more reliable harassment tool in lane.
  • Bloodseeker: Bloodbath now provides 50% regeneration if you are within 200 range of a dying hero, even without the killing blow. This applies only to heroes, granting 5/10/15/20% of max HP.
  • Bounty Hunter: Track team bonus gold rescaled to 50/100/150. This remains categorized as Reliable Gold.
  • Bristleback: Back damage prevention increased to 16/24/32/40; Side damage prevention increased to 8/12/16/20.
  • Broodmother: Base movement speed reduced to 310; Spawn Spiderlings mana cost increased to 80/100/120/140, though buff duration is improved to 2 seconds.
  • Furion: Sprout can target the ground again, fixing previous reliability issues with unit targeting.
  • Keeper of the Light: Mana Leak now applies a stun (1.25/1.5/1.75/2.0s) instead of a slow when the target runs out of mana.
  • Phantom Assassin: Blur reworked. It now provides a passive 20/25/30/35% evasion and a secondary effect: when within 1600 range of enemy heroes, your model partially fades and you are hidden from the minimap (1.5s delay).

Item Rebalancing

  • Ancient Janggo of Endurance: Attribute bonus and damage increased to 9; charges increased to 4.
  • Ethereal Blade: Ether Blast damage rescaled to 75 + 2.0x Agility.
  • Gem of True Sight: Now features a 6-minute stock cooldown.
  • Smoke of Deceit: Detection area reduced to 850; movement bonus increased to 15%; initial cast AoE increased to 1200.

Gameplay and Technical Fixes

These changes address engine-level interactions and quality-of-life improvements:

  • Allies are now notified upon the purchase of a Smoke of Deceit.
  • Finger of Death and Laguna Blade no longer target magic-immune units (preventing wasted cooldowns).
  • Fixed various exploits, including item manipulation and courier-related bugs.
  • Resolved visual bugs where overhead text tags (Meld, Multicast, Walrus Punch, etc.) were visible through the fog of war.
  • Fixed interaction bugs between Blackhole and units like Scepter Infernals or Visage's Familiars.
