Starcraft 2 Beta Patch 13 Release

As we continue testing the StarCraft II Beta, Patch 13 (version 0.15.0.15449) introduces significant infrastructure changes and balance adjustments that fundamentally alter the competitive landscape. Having spent time navigating the new Battle.net interface and testing the updated matchmaking logic, these changes clearly aim to streamline the player experience while deepening the tactical depth of high-level play.

General Updates

  • Map Publishing: The editor now supports uploading custom maps directly to the Battle.net community, a vital step for the modding ecosystem.
  • Social Integration: Facebook connectivity is now live, allowing you to identify friends who also possess a Battle.net account.
  • Multiplayer Formats: 3v3 and 4v4 game modes are officially enabled for team-based play.
  • Leagues & Ladders: The ranking system has been overhauled. We have removed the Copper League and introduced the Diamond League above Platinum. Note that player ratings now initialize at 0 rather than 1000, and loading screen odds are hidden during placement and practice matches to reduce pre-game bias.

  • Performance: UDP is now enabled to optimize network performance, alongside general stability improvements across the client.

Balance Changes

From a competitive standpoint, these adjustments require immediate adaptation in build orders and unit micro-management.

  • PROTOSS:
    • Sentry: Force Fields are now destructible by Massive ground units, providing a direct counter-play mechanic.
    • Void Ray: Range reduced from 7 to 6, limiting their ability to kite effectively.
    • Warp Gate: Subgroup selection priority increased to 3, ensuring they take precedence over standard Gateways.
  • TERRAN:
    • Marine: Research costs for Stimpack and Combat Shield have both been reduced from 150/150 to 100/100, allowing for faster mid-game aggression.
  • ZERG:
    • Infestor: The Infested Terran spell has been removed. The new Frenzy spell (25 energy) grants a biological unit 25% increased damage and immunity to snare, stuns, and mind control for 30 seconds.
    • Overseer: Now features Contaminate (75 energy), which disables structure production/research for 30 seconds, and Infested Terran (125 energy), which spawns units directly under the Overseer.
    • Ultralisk: Significant stat shifts: Life reduced from 600 to 450. Damage adjusted to 15 (+25 Armored), while bonus damage versus structures is increased to 75.

Hotkey Changes (English Only)

To avoid command conflicts, please update your muscle memory for the following:

  • Zerg Worker Rally Point: Changed from R to G.
  • Zerg Spore Crawler: Changed from W to A (prevents conflict with Select All Warp Gates).

Battle.net Interface

The UI has received a functional upgrade, including a nested menu system, a comprehensive Help system featuring tech trees, and improved Profile/League summary pages. Additionally, the removal of the identifier from character naming simplifies the social experience, while new in-game blocking and muting tools provide necessary player moderation controls.

Dota Mana Bars - Warcraft 3 Manabars

Learn how to use the Dota Mana Bars tool for Warcraft 3. Get practical setup tips, compatibility warnings for Garena and B.Net, and essential usage caveats. Dota Mana Bars is a classic utility designed for Warcraft III that overlays mana bars directly beneath unit health bars. Having spent years playing competitive DotA, I have found this tool to be an essential visual aid, particularly when playing mana-dependent heroes like Anti-Mage or Nerubian Assassin . By tracking opponent mana pools in real-time, you can more effectively time your mana burn abilities and engagement windows. In my experience, this tool functions reliably during LAN games . However, users should exercise caution regarding platform compatibility. Many players have reported that injecting this tool into the game client causes Warcraft to crash when playing on Garena or B.Net . Furthermore, because this utility provides a significant information advantage not present in the base game, many competitive tourn...
