It allows you to toggle your installation between various versions, including 1.26, 1.25b, 1.25a, 1.24e, 1.24d, 1.24c, 1.24b, 1.24a, 1.23a, 1.22a, 1.21b, and 1.20e. Note: WVS is bidirectional, meaning you can move from the latest version to an older one and back again as needed. How to Use Warcraft Version Switcher (WVS) To ensure a successful version swap, follow these technical steps: 1. Download the WVS (stripped version: ~600KB). 2. Download the specific TFT Version x.xxx.zip file corresponding to your target version. 3. Extract the WVS contents directly into your Warcraft 3 root installation directory. 4. Organize your patch files: 4a. Locate the WVS.exe file. 4b. Identify the "WVS" subfolder created in the same directory as the executable. 4c. Move your downloaded version zip files into this specific "WVS" folder. 5. Run WVS.exe. 6. If the application does not automatically detect your Warcraft 3 path, select the directory manually. 7. Click the "Switch Version" button. 8. Double-click the desired version from the list to initiate the swap. Note: You must repeat steps 5, 7, and 8 every time you wish to change your current game version. Technical Note: A common misconception is that replacing only the Game.dll, Storm.dll, and war3.exe is sufficient for a version change. This is inaccurate. The file war3patch.mpq is updated with every version and contains critical data required for the game to function correctly. This is why the provided version zips are approximately 30MB in size. While the game may launch without updating the .mpq file, it is highly discouraged, as it frequently leads to fatal errors and instability during gameplay.
