DotA 6.85g LoD (Legends of DotA) is a specialized modification of the classic Warcraft III map that removes standard hero limitations, allowing players to draft custom skill sets. In my experience playing various iterations of LoD, the freedom to combine abilities—such as pairing Sniper’s Take Aim with Lanaya’s Psi Blades—creates unique tactical depth that requires a solid understanding of both hero base stats and ability synergy.
Game Modes and Balance Commands
To ensure a balanced competitive environment, the map utilizes specific game modes. The recommended standard for competitive play is -SDZM3LS. If Player 1 does not input a mode, the game defaults to this configuration.
- ap (All Pick): Provides access to the full hero pool.
- ar (All Random): Assigns players a random hero and a randomized skill set.
- sd (Single Draft): Each player selects from a randomized pool of 10 heroes.
- md (Mirror Draft): Both teams are restricted to the same hero pool.
- rd (Random Draft): Players pick in a 1-2-2-2-2-1 sequence from a pool of 14 random heroes with randomized skill sets.
Essential In-Game Commands
Mastering these console commands is critical for managing the drafting phase and monitoring game state effectively:
- -si / -ai (-spellinfo / -abilityinfo): Displays your team's drafted spells on the scoreboard.
- -ff: Enables the Fast Finish/Forfeit option (only functional if the -ff mode was enabled at start).
- -wff: Identifies which player initiated the forfeit (requires -ff mode).
- -sp: Toggles the display of passive skill indicators.
- -sddon / -sddoff: System Display Damage; shows damage dealt/received overhead (restricted to Singleplayer).
- -addtime: Grants an additional 1 minute during the drafting phase. Each team may use this twice, for a maximum of 4 extra minutes.
- -ready: Randomly assigns remaining skills during the drafting phase.
- -reset: Clears all currently selected spells during the drafting phase.
- -r#: Resets a specific spell slot (1-6). For example, -r4 resets your ultimate ability.
- -random melee / -random range: Selects a random hero of the specified type from your available pool.
Technical Requirement: To ensure stability and compatibility with the map's triggers, you must have the Warcraft 3 patch version 1.24b or newer installed.
