DotA 6.68 Preview #2 - Item, CM, and Tiny

As we anticipate the official release of DotA 6.68, Icefrog has provided a second preview. Having followed the development of DotA for years, it is clear that these updates are designed to refine the competitive landscape. This preview highlights significant mechanical changes, including the introduction of the Orb of Venom, a restructured Captains Mode, a unique Aghanim's Scepter upgrade for Tiny, and the Kinetic Field ability.

Icefrog's Development Notes:

The new update is very close to being ready. There will be new heroes, items and lots of balance improvements. Here is the second preview:

Update: Dota 6.68 Finally released

Update: DotA 6.69 was released

1. Captains Mode (CM) Drafting Changes: The competitive meta is shifting with a new ban and pick system in 6.68. The previous structure of 4 bans followed by 5 picks is being replaced by a more nuanced 3-ban/3-pick, followed by a 2-ban/2-pick sequence. This change forces captains to make more tactical decisions mid-draft rather than front-loading all bans. Detailed drafting order information will be provided in the full changelog.

2. Orb of Venom: This new basic item provides a reliable poison effect, which is a significant addition for early-game aggression and lane harassment.

3. Tiny's Aghanim's Scepter Upgrade: Tiny receives a substantial power spike with this update. Equipping Aghanim's Scepter now grants him a new ability, fundamentally changing his role from a burst-combo caster to a more persistent physical threat.

4. Kinetic Field: This ability, belonging to one of the new heroes, introduces a powerful form of crowd control. Based on the preview, it creates a perimeter that restricts enemy movement, which will likely be a high-impact skill in team fights.

Dota Mana Bars - Warcraft 3 Manabars

Learn how to use the Dota Mana Bars tool for Warcraft 3. Get practical setup tips, compatibility warnings for Garena and B.Net, and essential usage caveats. Dota Mana Bars is a classic utility designed for Warcraft III that overlays mana bars directly beneath unit health bars. Having spent years playing competitive DotA, I have found this tool to be an essential visual aid, particularly when playing mana-dependent heroes like Anti-Mage or Nerubian Assassin . By tracking opponent mana pools in real-time, you can more effectively time your mana burn abilities and engagement windows. In my experience, this tool functions reliably during LAN games . However, users should exercise caution regarding platform compatibility. Many players have reported that injecting this tool into the game client causes Warcraft to crash when playing on Garena or B.Net . Furthermore, because this utility provides a significant information advantage not present in the base game, many competitive tourn...
