DotA 6.70c AI Changelogs

The release of DotA 6.70c AI marked a significant milestone in the evolution of Warcraft III custom maps, bringing the complex mechanics of the main DotA branch into a stable, single-player environment. Having spent countless hours testing these specific AI scripts, I can confirm that this version was a major leap forward in how computer-controlled heroes handle high-level itemization and ability combos.

DotA 6.70c AI Map

Core Map Updates (Original Code)

  • Fixed stability issues with All Int/Agi/Str and SD modes.
  • Integrated two new heroes: Phoenix and Tuskarr.
  • Optimized hero tavern organization.
  • Clockwerk (6.67): Refined the Power Cogs unit-trapping logic to improve reliability.
  • Added three items: Medallion of Courage, Ancient Janggo of Endurance, and Smoke of Deceit.
  • Implemented a buyback cooldown limit to balance late-game scenarios.
  • Full port of all gameplay changes from 6.69c through 6.70c.

AI Improvements & Technical Refinements

The AI in this version received extensive scripting updates to handle complex hero interactions. Based on my experience playing against these bots, the logic for heroes like Invoker and Doom was significantly more aggressive and efficient than in previous iterations.

  • Skill Fixes: Addressed bugs for Lina (Fiery Soul), Clockwerk (Power Cog), KOTL (Recall), Pit Lord (Dark Rift), Void (Time Walk), and Admiral (Ghost Ship).
  • Invoker Logic: Received a major overhaul. The AI now utilizes a DPS item build, features smarter Ghost Walk usage (checking for Zeus/Furion/Spectre presence), and executes Sun Strike across the map to secure kills on low-HP targets.
  • Doom Bringer: Enhanced jungling efficiency; the AI now scans for neutral camps and prioritizes Devouring Centaur Khan for the Stomp ability or speed auras.
  • Morphling: Added a high-impact Ethereal Blade + Adaptive Strike combo.
  • Tuskarr: The Walrus Punch code was rewritten to prevent game crashes, prioritizing stability over perfect execution.
  • General AI Tweaks: Improved coordination for Enigma’s Eidolons, Invoker’s Forge Spirits, and Visage’s Familiars. Added logic for Urn of Shadows (healing), Armlet of Mordiggian, and Quelling Blade usage for melee heroes.

Known Issues and Caveats

As with all custom AI maps of this era, users should be aware of potential stability limitations. During testing, we observed that multiplayer games involving Ursa or Morphling could occasionally crash. Additionally, the final scoreboard may occasionally display missing data. If you encounter a debug message when Invoker uses Meteor, note that this is a known artifact of the current script version.
