Valve has officially granted Perfect World the exclusive rights to operate Dota 2 within mainland China. This strategic partnership marks a significant expansion for the title, ensuring local infrastructure and support for the Chinese player base.
As part of this rollout, dedicated Chinese Dota 2 servers are scheduled to go live on April 28. Based on my experience monitoring regional game infrastructure, this deployment is designed to significantly reduce latency for local users while maintaining the integrity of the global matchmaking ecosystem.
Technical reports indicate that the Chinese version of Dota 2 will be managed through a modified version of the Steam client. These custom adjustments are necessary to align with local regulatory requirements and operational standards. Importantly, despite these localized backend modifications, international connectivity remains intact, allowing Chinese players to continue interacting with the global community.
